Backlot Cafe is building tools for film and television crew. This policy explains the information we collect, why we use it, and the controls we aim to give you.

Information you provide

This can include your name, email, profile photo, departments and roles, availability, referrals, private Rolodex notes, staffing requests, production-admin records, and information you enter into Backlot tools.

Google sign-in

When you choose Google sign-in, we use Google to confirm your account identity and verified email address. A Google-linked badge means the account controls that verified Google identity. It does not mean Backlot has independently verified credits, union status, skill or employment history.

Private network information

Your private Rolodex notes, go-to flags and private good words are not made public automatically. Production-sensitive records such as DTRs, timesheets and internal department data remain restricted to authorized users.

Availability and staffing

Availability you choose to share may be visible to eligible Backlot crew so that staffing requests can be matched to people who say they are available. We do not treat an availability setting as a guarantee of employment.

Data use

We use information to operate the service, authenticate users, match crew and availability, improve workflows, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell private crew notes.

Retention and deletion

We retain information while it is needed to operate the service, preserve legitimate production records, resolve disputes or meet legal obligations. Account and deletion controls will expand as the service develops.

Security

We use access controls and private application storage for sensitive crew data, but no online system can promise absolute security. Do not upload secrets or information you are not authorized to share.
